HISTORY OF FIAMBRE

The Guatemalan capital has moved and settled four times.

1. The Spaniards installed it near a Mayan community, said community evicted them from there; so they moved the capital elsewhere.

2. A landslide fell on the city at the foot of a volcano, it was destroyed and moved to another place currently Antigua Guatemala.

3. An earthquake destroyed the city in 1773, and it moved for the fourth time to where it is today.

After the earthquake, there was a lack of food supply. The housewives managed to fill the table with all kinds of food: vegetables, sausages, meat, cakes, cheese, sauce and thus a traditional meal was born to honor those who died during the earthquake. It is currently eaten on All Saints' Day or Day of the Dead on November 1 of each year.
